Okay, you may want to take this with a grain of salt. As a matter of fact, you may want (or need) to throw some salt over your left shoulder. Wait, not meaning to get ahead of myself, but when you have a thought in your head it’s not a good idea to let it go. Especially if you’re a little up in age, a missed thought might or could be lost and gone forever.
This brings to mind an occurrence some years ago. On one of our “date nights,” we were staying at the Tremont in Galveston which may or may not be haunted?? We checked in, went up in the elevator where we would always check the armoires to see if someone left anything in the drawers. [After all, one time we did find something in one of the drawers, I can’t mention what we found …] We went to our room, got settled in, then headed downstairs to their lovely bar. At the elevators, there was an old-fashioned phone. On the receiver sat a little yellow duck about the size of a pencil eraser. We picked it up and thought about taking it, but why, we didn’t really need a little yellow duck anyway.
We went about on our way down the elevator to the bar. The Tremont makes a to die for Old Fashioned, so we both ordered one and enjoyed their snack mix, talked with the bartender and anyone else lingering at the bar. These are the best conversations ever, you just never know who you’re going to meet, it’s quite engaging!
Time to go back to the room, get ready to go out to dinner somewhere along the Strand. Rode the elevator upstairs and, of course, checked out the phone to see if the little yellow ducky was still there, of course. No, it was missing, had someone taken it? Got to our room, and as my husband went to swipe the card, a little yellow ducky fell off the door ledge. OH, HOW CREEPY!! How did it get there? We placed the little ducky back next to the phone where we had seen it first.
Well, as usual, I’ve totally gotten off my track of thought, you may have heard my story before, sorry, that’s all I’ve got for this week.
