PSP Watermelon Crawl
The Peninsula Sports Park (PSP) Watermelon Crawl is an eagerly anticipated annual event on the Bolivar Peninsula held in April, combining community spirit with creative fun to support local youth athletic programs and scholarships.
Participants are encouraged to decorate their golf carts, Jeeps, and themselves in vibrant watermelon-themed attire, competing for prizes in categories such as Best Decorated Vehicle and Best Costume.
The event typically begins at a local venue, with past starting points including Jose’s and Tiki Beach Bar & Grill, where participants gather for breakfast and receive their “baby watermelons” to carry throughout the day.
The crawl proceeds to various popular spots in Crystal Beach, with each location presenting unique challenges and games that contribute to the festive atmosphere.
The day culminates with awards for the most creatively decorated vehicles and costumes, as well as recognition for challenge winners. Proceeds from the Watermelon Crawl directly benefit PSP’s efforts to enhance athletic opportunities for children and families on the Bolivar Peninsula.
