Sometimes, the universe is listening closer than you think.
Just ask Michelle Wilson, the lucky winner of this year’s Texas Crab Festival golf cart raffle. For months, Michelle had been dropping hints to the universe (and perhaps her family) that she wanted to trade in her bulky six-seater golf cart for a more nimble four-seater. Little did she know that a trip to the festival and a few raffle tickets would be the answer to her wish.
Michelle didn’t walk into the drawing expecting to win. In fact, she admits she doesn’t usually consider herself the “lucky” type when it comes to prizes. “I really didn’t expect to win,” Michelle said, recalling the moment the winner was announced. “When they called my name, I kind of blanked out. Excited, shocked!”
The winning ticket came from a batch of four she purchased on the day of the festival, originally intended as a simple donation to the cause. While she had picked up a few tickets weeks prior, she has a feeling that it was those last-minute festival entries that did the trick.
The prize? A stunning, bright red E-Z-GO golf cart—exactly the four-seater she had been dreaming of.
While the new set of wheels is a major win for Michelle, the community wins too. Proceeds from the raffle go directly toward local scholarships, a cause Michelle was proud to support.
As for what’s next, you can expect to see a flash of red cruising the shoreline very soon. When asked if she plans to spend more time driving on the sand, Michelle’s answer was simple: “I’ll drive on it more now!”
