Driving down Highway 87 is supposed to be a scenic cruise, but inevitably, someone decides your rear bumper is the perfect place to park their oversized truck. There you are, doing a reasonable speed, enjoying the view of the dunes, while your rearview mirror is entirely filled with the aggressive chrome grille of an impatient driver.

They don’t pass you, even when the dotted line says they can. Instead, they just hover, riding your tail and pulsing with a frantic mainland energy that completely clashes with the coastal vibe. It turns a relaxing drive into a high-stress game of “back off.” If you’re in that much of a rush to get to the ferry or the beach house, start your trip ten minutes earlier. Otherwise, back off and enjoy the scenery like the rest of us.
