The Eagle’s beloved Crazy Hat Party reached a milestone this year, celebrating its 15th anniversary in spectacular fashion. Traditionally held the day before the Mardi Gras Parade, this year’s event embraced a fresh twist in honor of the 2025 parade theme, “Masquerade Madness.” Instead of wildly decorated hats, participants arrived donning elaborate and original Mardi Gras masks, transforming the celebration into the first-ever Crazy Mask Party.
The evening began with Emcee Jim Denys, who welcomed the enthusiastic crowd and introduced a lineup of Mardi Gras Kings and Queens from past years, dating back to 2009, along with visiting Eagles dignitaries. The energy in the room was electric as over 80 masked partiers paraded before the eight esteemed judges, each eager to showcase their creativity.
As is tradition, every participant received a hand-painted memento, a treasured keepsake crafted by Denys himself. The competition was fierce, but the judges ultimately narrowed the field to 12 finalists, each of whom was awarded a stunning hand-painted miniature chair, commemorating this year’s “Masquerade Madness” theme.
From there, the final four contestants were selected. The People’s Choice Award was determined by the crowd’s applause, while the top three winners received custom-engraved plaques for first, second, and third place.

Closing out the night was the grand announcement of the Eagles 2025 Mardi Gras King and Queen—a title decided by a vote of the local Aerie membership. This year’s honorees, Matt and Donna Davis, were crowned and celebrated, preparing to represent the Eagles on their parade float the following day.
With its unique blend of creativity, camaraderie, and community spirit, the Crazy Mask Party was an undeniable success, ensuring that this 15-year tradition remains a highlight of Bolivar’s Mardi Gras season.
