Never a Dull Moment

I think we were the last to leave the graduation celebration and Tampa. We had a later flight on Wednesday but decided to go ahead and get to the airport. Good thing! When we got to baggage check, I looked in the pocket of my pants for my driver’s license, Nope …

Oh dear, now what to do. So, first I panicked. I had to go upstairs to the information station and told the sweetest lady that I couldn’t find my driver’s license. Tears in my eyes, about to have a stroke, she tried to calm me down. “Oh Sweetie, what airlines are you on? No problem, this happens all the time, Southwest is the kindest!” She advised us to go ahead and check our luggage; we had plenty of time she told me encouragingly.

So, I head back downstairs where my husband was waiting with the luggage. I told him what the nice lady said, so he headed over to baggage check, reached in his pocket for the credit card I had left him. No Credit Card! It fell out of his pocket (unknowingly) when he reached for his phone. We searched, no credit card to be found. So, while he checked luggage, I got on my phone to call my bank to cancel my card.

As instructed by the sweetest little lady, we went on over to Security to explain to the TSA guy that I couldn’t find my license. He called another TSA guy who took me over to a desk to fill out some paperwork, He pushed a button on his computer and Voila, up came my passport picture on his screen. Then, another TSA guy escorted us back over to the TSA desk, where the first TSA guy checked us through.

Oh, my goodness! Good thing we got to the airport so soon, by then, we still had a little over an hour before boarding. We found an inviting place to sit and have a much-needed beverage. We split a fantastic tasting burger and I had my wine; my husband had a Blue Moon with an orange slice.

Finally, time to board. Let me tell you, I can never sleep on a plane, but I was so exhausted, I did indeed take a refreshing little nap.

In Houston, we caught an Uber and got to our daughter’s house in Friendswood where we had left our car. Trip home, uneventful, thank goodness. So happy to be home, started unpacking two suitcases.

As I got to the bottom of my suitcase, last item to pull out to hang up was the dress I had worn to the Baccalaureate mass on Monday evening. Lo and behold, there was my driver’s license in the pocket of the dress. Oh, St Anthony, you came through for me once again!

Goes to show you, there’s always a lesson to be learned. From now on, the license goes back into my wallet. Anticipating having to replace my license, we read you can do it online if you know the audit number on your card. Are you kidding? The audit number is this unusually long number that pretty much stretches out all the way across your license.

Anyway, now that I have my license, I’m going to take a picture of it, so I’ll have that audit number.

Another lesson learned, we will always have our passports with us even on non-international flights.

Another lesson learned, Never Fly Anywhere Again!!
