Surface water temperature is 85 degrees. This week we have focused our efforts on slot redfish in the shallows, and they did not disappoint. We have been using light colored paddle tails with 1/8 oz heads or rigged weedless depending upon where the fish are positioning themselves, as well as under a popping cork with a 12’ leader when fishing areas with lots of shell.
We have had good success fishing rocks as well as grass lines with drains, when the conditions line up. We have also had some good days catching specks and sand trout on the reefs when the wind works to our advantage, and we have been successful in both the upper and lower water column.
We have also found a few Bull Reds fishing in the same areas. The crowds have thinned and the weather is getting right, so now is the time to book your fall and winter trips and get out and enjoy all the upper Texas Coast has to offer.
