Captain Jeff Brandon Fishing Report

Surface water temperature is 81 degrees. The water clarity is not as good in East Galveston Bay as normal, since the storm passed, with less clarity as your progress North. Once again, this week we shifted our focus towards trout on the flats over shell, as well as Open Water Reefs when the wind cooperated. Active bait in the area is important, so if you dont see bait or signs of life, don’t spend a whole lot of time in the area.

We are still using Imitation shrimp lures and tails under Harvey Tackle popping corks, with a 1 -2 foot leader to trigger the most bites, as well as Deadly Dudley Rat Tails, and WacAttack Flukes with 1/8 oz heads.

For Redfish, we have been having our best luck in and around grass lines in a foot to 24″ of water, with indentations / drains /points being the most productive areas, in the back lakes.
