It could be because much of the proceeds from their sales go to Bolivar Peninsula Public Schools. These funds help High Island School District and Galveston’s Crenshaw Environmental Science Magnet School. However, not only are their gifts to each school, this resale store presents every teacher, administrator and staff member with their own monies. Teachers can then purchase items for the needs of their own classroom. WOW!
Mirabeau B. Lamar, second President of The Republic of Texas, is often called “The Father of Texas Education” for his efforts in establishing public school education funding. He believed that, “Education is the guardian genius of democracy”. Lamar University is named in his honor.
Some Public School students come from less than desirable backgrounds. Some have learning problems. Yet many become successful. These folk often state,“There was this teacher who believed in me”.
