Like Herding Cats

That’s what my life is like these days. No, I’m not complaining. I should be used to it by now. I’m talking about our Crab Fest Vendors. I used to have Lana run shot gun for me as far as Health Certificates go, but these days, getting the food vendors to get their Health Certificates is a piece of cake. I guess it’s just second nature to a food vendor. They know they’ve gotta have it or the Health Inspector will send them packing.

Our greatest challenge these days is getting everyone to pay up and have their liability insurance certificate. Many vendors say the insurance is not necessary at other festivals. I’ll bet it comes out of their booth payment and they’re just not aware. Our regulars are used to it and I don’t hear any static. Very few of the new ones comment.

Herding Cats is what it is at this stage. Thank goodness for the two ladies who generously contribute their time to keep up on the invoices. From the reports they send me quite often, I’m able to have knowledge of whose paid so I can gently remind them. If you were to ask any of them, they’ll tell you I’m an email monster. The other day, we went to La Playita and first thing Rey told me, “quit emailing me, email her!” as he points to Mom Inez. She sweetly told me, “I don’t have email.” And that’s the truth!

Hey, if you’re wondering how Merry training is going, Well Well … Most of the time, we feel like we’re actually getting somewhere. But, along about 8:00 to 8:30 at night, man oh man! She goes into her wild streak, but we’re learning how to handle it. She’s 15 weeks old, up to 25 lbs. now, from 9ish when we brought her home in February. She has another set of shots this Thursday and after that we can let her socialize and venture out to other places than just our yard. PawPaw has been taking her to the beach on the golf cart and she’s beginning to fancy those trips. We can’t wait until we can let her out on the beach and run the you-know-what out of her. We’re thinking after Wheel of Fortune would be a good time. (Can’t miss The Wheel!) The beach has already begun to get busy again, so we’ll have to be extra careful going down there to play.

Merry Grace

Well, I’ve got to go check my emails again, see who’s sent me some booth fees or a Certificate of Insurance. Again, I’m not complaining. When I see the crowds and the joy they get from shopping shopping shopping, my heart does a flip!

Happy Trails!
