It’s All Over but the Shout Out!

That’s what I’m here for, that’s what it’s all about!

Where do I begin? Well, I’ll start off with good ol’ Mother Nature. She turned another request/prayer into reality. No rain! Even some (a lot) of sunshine on Saturday. I actually had to un-layer a bit. Thank you Mother Nature!

Of course I’ll be talking a bit about our vendors. In my opinion, they’re the core of this event, and we have some top-notch vendors. We had a lot of new ones this year, but they all came forth like troopers. Anyone who can put up with all my Informing emails for 5 months deserves a pat on the back. Most of them, very nicely, told me they appreciate ALL the information they received at least 3 times a week. Those, I must say, are the ones who actually read all the stuff I sent out. Pretty obvious those who didn’t read all my “stuff,” because I’d get the questions from them like “when can we set up,” or “what time do we begin on Thursday.” Those lucky few would get even more emails from me, sometimes even a phone call. Kind of like having to go to the principal’s office, or detention.

I exaggerate; you know me …

Our Silent Auction Team – Big Shout Out to my buddies Donna (Goat Nanny) and my Girl, Terrie (who I’ve secretly adopted). Hope you’re okay with that Terrie … Terrie is my “tech girl.” When it comes to the credit card machine or my phone, you name it, she’s on it. Donna, is the backbone of this thing, she tells me what time to be there in the morning to set up and she & Terrie pack everything up at night time. She’s on the ball and anticipates what we’ll need, paper towels, totes, blankets. She’s got it handled!

Another shout out goes to all our family who come to this event to help out. Here they are, all seven siblings from oldest (sorry Liz) to youngest, Katie. Annie, in the middle, comes all the way from California. She’s a Texas girl though, don’t sell her short. Did I say “short,” sorry Annie, but she is the shortest of these long, tall Texans. Bill and Chris arrive early to help “herd cats” when the vendors arrive, showing them all to their designated booth spaces, or juggling booth spaces if necessary (which is always the case). Liz (oldest, sorry again Liz) is THE CRAB you saw all weekend. The CRAB outfit was a bit warm, but that’s what Liz is all about. If you say “costume,” she’s going to be the one to wear it! She also developed the Scavenger Hunt. A little difficult for your average bear, but that’s Liz! I can’t imagine how many people signed up, it’s a popular pastime at all the Crab Festivals now.

Shauna and Kim and Susan. Geez, can’t say enough about these ladies. Shauna and Kim sent out all the invoices once we roped in a vendor and Susan is our social media gal who keeps answering questions and helping us run this show. My husband and I work in our office back to back. I rope in the vendors, and he figures out where to place them. I try not to have similar vendors, but inevitably, I’ll enlist two freeze dried candy peeps or pickle peeps – “don’t put them together honey.” I think everyone gets along though. I spoke with the new “pickle people,” they love the other pickle people. They said, “when we run out of a particular kind, we’ll send them over to Jimmy.”

It’s one happy family, they go to all these festivals together, they all know one another, It’s all Good!

I could keep on rambling, but I hope you all came by and had a good time.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any comments. I love the GOOD comments, but I welcome any tips or recommendations.

Happy Trails as Roy used to say.
