The Crystal Beach Aerie 3719 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles recently marked a major milestone, gathering members, local leaders, and guests from across Texas for its Fifty-Year Anniversary Celebration and Community Service Tribute. The commemorative event opened with the Pledge of Allegiance and an opening prayer, followed by warm welcoming remarks from Matt Davis and Cari Bounds. Guest speakers—including Rusty Wilson from the Bolivar Chamber of Commerce, Nancy Mata representing Texas State Representative Terri Leo Wilson’s office, and Peter Ackers, Past Grand Aerie Worthy President—expressed their heartfelt congratulations. Each emphasized the chapter’s deep-rooted value to the area, highlighting five decades of impactful charitable work, dedicated fellowship, and community involvement.

Throughout the gathering, speakers reflected on the rich history and remarkable resilience that have defined Crystal Beach Aerie 3719 over the past half-century. Attendees reflected on the chapter’s legacy of donating, awarding scholarships, and assisting first responders, alongside its pivotal role in building and supporting essential local facilities like the Dr. Peggy and Howard Coughlin Community Center. Darrell Hogan recounted the chapter’s journey through Texas history, detailing how members pulled together to rebuild and grow following severe hurricane damage and the challenges of the COVID pandemic. Early members like Nancy Kaglik and Rosanna Carroll shared memories of learning from charter mentors, while Connie Probst highlighted the core values behind the chapter’s longevity, emphasizing respect, communication, and leadership rooted in service.

In addition to celebrating past achievements, the event actively supported ongoing charitable endeavors and honored those who keep the organization thriving. Connie Probst introduced the current state project supporting the Alzheimer’s Association of South Texas and Central Texas. Attendees pitched in through 50/50 raffles, lottery ticket boards managed by Donna Mittendorf, and sales of a special 50th-anniversary coin. Past officers, trustees, and the upcoming auxiliary board received special recognition for their dedication before the crowd kicked off a full schedule of festivities—complete with lunch, dart and cornhole competitions, trivia, an eight-ball tournament, and a lively 1970s rock-and-disco costume party to close out the landmark day.
