The Bolivar Peninsula Cultural Foundation had its annual wine tasting at Jose’s Cantina last Wednesday, February 26, 2025, and a great time was had by all. With over 80 in attendance, Jose’s was awash in vibrant Mardi Gras colors and decorations along with a majority of our guests in attendance adhering to the suggested Mardi Gras sparkles dress code. Arnulfo Perez of Un Sueño Vineyard put on an informative and lively presentation highlighting 6 East Texas wines, driving five hours each way with his daughter in tow for his presentation.
The evening began with a quick check-in accomplished by pre-sold tickets and multiple check-in persons. Guests were encouraged to find a seat with their fellow guests and get a plate of their choice of many different fruits, vegetables, cheeses, crackers and cold cuts. Guests were also encouraged to get an assortment of the yummy desserts provided by our cultural foundation members. After a welcome to all and introduction to Arnulfo, guests were offered up a wine and a complimenting hot meat of steak bites, fish, salmon, shrimp and chicken depending on which wine was served. Jose and his daughter Maria, along with their great wait staff and chefs outdid themselves with the delicious meats and speedy and the gracious service they provided us.
The board of the Bolivar Peninsula Cultural Foundation wants to give Jose and his staff a special thank you for giving up their one day off for the week to host our event and we would like to thank all of our members who came to help set up, decorate, make desserts and clean up afterwards. Also a big thank you to our photographers , Linda Elissalde, Paulette Layfield, Queen Galbreath and Pat Tinsley for the great shots that captured the enjoyment had by all. BPCF could not have held this successful event without all of your help. We concluded our event with three great door prizes being awarded to Megan Norris, Sue Bingham and Malcolm Lewis. If you missed this event, make a mental note to get tickets next year for it!
