Surface water temperature is 78 degrees. The past couple weeks the super high morning tides have allowed us to fish areas we normally cannot venture back into, and it has worked out when the wind has cooperated. We have been using light colored paddle tails with 1/16 oz heads or rigged weedless depending upon where the fish are positioning themselves, as well as under a popping cork with a 12” leader when fishing areas with lots of shell.
We have had success fishing rocks in the intracoastal, as well as grass lines with drains, and windblown points when the conditions line up. We have also had some good days catching specks and sand trout on scattered shell beds, however the winds have kept us off the open water reefs of late.
We have also found a few Bull Reds pushing shrimp down the grasslines, when we have good tidal movement. The crowds have thinned and the weather is getting right, so now is the time to book your fall and winter trips and get out and enjoy all the upper Texas Coast has to offer.
