Captain Jeff Brandon Fishing Report

Surface water temperature 62 degrees. Water clarity average for East Galveston Bay. Much of our success remains back in the marsh/bayou areas over the past weeks, but over the last week with the heating trend, things are beginning to change. We have been finding fish moving out of the back lakes and around marsh drains, and on to the shell flats in the 2-to-3-foot range, as the Trout bite for us has been on FIRE.

If you are not seeing active bait, move on to your next spot, as these fish are on the move and feeding aggressively of late. Most of our success has come with a popping cork with artificial. Chunk it out, pop it, and let it sit 5 to 10 seconds before popping again. The past few days it has produced 70% of our bite’s vs throwing jig heads with paddle tails, so if it works, don’t fight it. Redfish are still up shallow and cruising the shorelines.

Get out and enjoy all that the Texas Coast has to offer and if I can assist in any way let me know.
