Surface water temperature is 85 degrees. This week we spent most of our time fishing open water reefs all over the bay system and it paid off big time with Specks, Reds, and Sand Trout. We are utilizing Mirror Lure suspending hard baits, Soft Body Swim Baits, and Tails with 1/4 oz heads in light colors.
Our clients are still enjoying excellent success using Popping corks with a 2-foot leader above Salt & Pepper Tails by WacAttack & Deadly Dudley Terror Tails in Blue Moon, which is resulting in some hard-pulling Redfish action on reefs in 5 to 8 foot of water.
We have also caught a good number of slot reds in the super shallows on wake baits around structure. The Topwater bite has still been good when utilized on our early morning charters, so if you like throwing walking baits before the sun gets up, now is a great time to get on the water and make it happen.
The crowds have thinned out from the summertime rush, as on some days we have only seen 1 or 2 boats out in East Bay, so now is a great time to book your Fall / Winter Fishing Trips and get out and enjoy the great outdoors and some of the best fishing on the Upper Texas Coast.
