A Day on the Golf Course

Nothing like inviting myself to tag along

Our Grandson, Pierce, was to play in yet another golf tournament, I think the third for the week. He’s on a winning streak, he’s HOT!! The tournament was to be played on a course in Beaumont, Getting there required waking up a bit earlier than usual, but I really wanted to go see “what it’s all about.” So, I asked for the day off and traipsed along. They rented a golf cart (I think just for me). I can’t say I mind being carted around, even though it wouldn’t have hurt me to have to walk 9 holes.

This little guy, our 12-year-old, can really play some golf. Grandma was forced to learn and observe par, bogey, birdie, and I kept Pierce’s score on my own tally sheet. He came in third place, he totaled 42 points, several par shots, a couple of bogeys. The first-place kid scored 38.

Another couple of Grandsons left for Colorado earlier this week for their “Summer” vacation. They had an appointment of sorts to make it to Breckenridge on time for baseball practice. Our little guy, Riggs, is playing some ball in the cooler climate of Colorado this summer.

Our son, Matthew, and Pierce left on Friday to fly to Breckenridge. Another Grandson, Grant, traveled back with them. Grant had to get back to work in Laramie, after a week of training in the Houston area. Grant thought Colorado sounded like a great place to land and spend the weekend before heading back to work.

We have more good news. Our Fur Baby, Merry, gets to come home on Friday. Her trainer, Clint, thinks she’s advanced and learned a lot and he’s ready to release her. We all have a different name for Merry’s getaway, PawPaw calls it Boot Camp, I call it Summer Camp, and, probably, more appropriately, my brother-in-law, Chris, called it Reform School. All in All, what it boils down to is GRADUTION. And no, I didn’t order the cap and gown, but we will have a celebration when she comes home. I think we’ve all learned a great deal. After all, it’s been a while since these two old folks have raised a puppy.

Oh Merry, we are so excited. This house seemed so empty without you!
