Looking back on this past August, locals and visitors alike fondly remember a lively day filled with decorated golf carts, spirited competition, and community fun. But beyond the laughter and festivities, the annual Golf Cart Poker Run was driven by a noble purpose: supporting the local organizations that keep our community thriving and safe.
Thanks to the incredible turnout and overwhelming generosity of everyone involved, all proceeds from the event were directly donated back to our area schools and brave volunteer firefighters.
Last Friday evening, event organizers officially presented the funds raised, handing out contributions to five essential local institutions:
- $15,000 to High Island ISD
- $15,000 to Crenshaw Environmental Science Magnet School
- $4,000 to the Port Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department
- $4,000 to the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department
- $4,000 to the High Island Volunteer Fire Department
In addition to presenting the donation checks, the evening featured special awards recognizing the talented young artists who won the kids’ t-shirt design contest, adding a celebratory touch to the event.
A huge congratulations goes out to all the check recipients and award winners! Most importantly, a heartfelt thank you is extended to the generous sponsors, dedicated volunteers, and every single participant who joined in the fun. None of this remarkable impact would be possible without your continued support and passion for our community.
