They’re Back

Finally, I saw my first hummingbird yesterday. Actually, it wasn’t my first, I saw two early August. I was on my way out the door to go to work. Well, nothing would do, I had to go back in and get my hummingbird feeders out. I knew I would be late, but I didn’t want those sweet little things to go hungry.

Hummingbird on Feeder

Needless to say, they didn’t hang around. So, when I saw two hummers yesterday, I got the clean feeders out again and they’re hanging as we speak. I read somewhere, we can/should leave them out until the end of October, which really seems late. But, after all, they’ve arrived pretty late if you ask me. A friend in Wyoming just posted they left her area just recently. I guess they were heading here.

Not to change the subject, but I saw this sign today.

Sign

It’s from Vince the Sign Guy, you’ve seen them, they’re in all the gift stores, most recently I saw them at Buckee’s.

I’ve repeated these exact words so many times. If it weren’t for mistakes, I wouldn’t have learned a thing!  Some mistakes I made at a very young age, like relationships. One very serious mistake I made very early on was a legal decision that I’ve regreted practically all my life. You live and learn, right?

Other mistakes, like work-related mistakes, made the learning process so much clearer. You always think, “I remember that one, I won’t do that again!” I guess it’s been in the professional sense that a lot of mistakes lead me to understand the correct way to accomplish tasks. Those errors, geez, I hope, I think they were all solvable.

As a parent, you can only guide your children, you have to have faith they’ll See the Light, and be able to choose the right path.

Never let your guard down, stay on track, do what you think is right, be humble, be kind.

And that’s all I have to say about that … Forrest Gump

    Georgia,
If I remember correctly, Bolivar Peninsula is in the main fly-way for hummers headed to South America. They need to tank up on sugar/fresh water (1:4 ratio) for that long trip across the Gulf. Food coloring and commercially made feeds are unnecessary and even harmful. Help your little friends fill their tanks!
