“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35
By Linda Elissalde
The Advisory Council of Bay Vue Methodist Church begin honoring a member who had contributed the most to family, friends, church and community in 2015. This tradition continues even now. However, there were years when it was hard to honor just one person. Sometimes there were two who had done so much. That happened again this year. Pat and Elinor Tinsley were the overwhelming choices to be honored.
Pat and Elinor are a wonderful team. They love and support each other. They work together, and as individuals, for their church family and others. It would take too many pages to cover all their contributions. However, here are a few.
Pat Tinsley is head of Bay Vue Trustees, a member of the Administrative Counsel, Finance Committee and Lay Representative to Trinity Global Methodist Conference. He serves as assistant recorder for church services on Facebook. Mr. Tinsley helps with maintenance of Bay Vue’s building, receives quotes for projects and procured a new sign for the church. He and The Eagles organize the Crystal Beach portion of the annual Blood Drive. One of his continuous duties is keeping Mary Raney’s Memory Garden fresh and blooming. Pat and Elinor recently rescued Bay Vue’s Beach Toy Lending Library after it was buried in sand.
Speaking of Elinor! Mrs. Tinsley is President of the Bay Vue Methodist Women and an Administrative Counsel member. She directs the women’s projects and initiatives. Elinor creates sign-up sheets when the Methodist Women need assistance from the congregation and purchases snacks for Crenshaw and High Island School staffs. She guides the Care Team in setting schedules and organizing special needs of the church. Elinor took charge of purchasing kitchen and non-office/worship supplies. She volunteers for scripture reading while being the primary Sunday Facebook Recorder. Mrs. Tinsley stays strong and helps others to do so by coaching the Lazy Ladies Aerobics in Fellowship Hall on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. When summer comes she helps the ladies exercise with Water Aerobics.
This is only a small listing of the couple’s contributions in helping others. Their efforts reach far beyond Bolivar Peninsula. They truly deserve to be Bay Vue Methodist Persons of the Year. Pat and Elinor will be blessed by giving more than they receive for they are indeed THE TERRIFIC TINSLEY TWOSOME!
