Taking a Cruise

Or two or three! I went over to Galveston on Wednesday to pick up my cherry pie from Sunflower Bakery. I ordered it specially to take to Thanksgiving dinner at our daughter’s. I had several more stops to make while I was over there. First UPS, then Kroger, Walgreens, an embroidery place on 53rd, Luna’s downtown by Star Drug Store and while I was down there, I thought I’d drive around the Strand area to see if there was a parking place I might slip into (I’m lousy at parallel parking). No such luck, so I decided I might as well head home to get started on decorating the tree or putting lights out on the deck.

I drove up to the ferry and lo and behold, made it on, the very last car on the ferry. I think it was the same one I came over on that morning. I called PawPaw to let him know I was 10 minutes away so he could bring the lift down, he met me when I drove up. First thing he asked me, Did you get the pie?

Oh, “&*($@^$!!” I forgot the “&*#($%$” pie! We unloaded everything and off I went to catch the next ferry to go get the “&*(*$%%^” pie!! When I got to Sunflower on time I must say, I must have circled the block 3 times before I went ahead and parked a block away. I must say Sunflower was very organized (I guess this wasn’t their first rodeo). I picked up my cherry pie and trudged back to my car and made it back to the ferry just in time to board. Got home in time to make a pumpkin pie, Leigh’s favorite, and my sweet potatoes (my favorite), a broccoli rice casserole and homemade cranberry sauce.

Thursday morning, we woke bright and early, started the ham and took our leisurely time to get ready, thinking we’d make it to League City by noonish. We dropped stuff off at Kel’s in Friendswood before, like drawer pulls and other stuff that gets delivered to our house. Michael will be here in a few weeks to do some more work around the house and take care of some “house business stuff.”

Thanksgiving was delightful, full of family and good food. What a treat to be with family! Eli & Chyna were there from Dallas, and Matthew, Camber and The Littles came over later for dessert. I kept thinking “that pie better be good!” Lots of games, Mexican Train and MahJong and lots of football games on TV!

We had all kinds of plans for Black Friday, but when we got everything loaded in the car, all we could think about was heading home. And that’s exactly what we did.

Saturday morning was spent at the After Thanksgiving Festival at Swede’s Pavilion. Gotta hand it to you Cathie, Fantastic Vendors! A lot of our Crab Festival peeps. Best of all was seeing our friends, Elaine & Dennis, MaryAnn, David, Sue, the list goes on …

I couldn’t pass up a Bloody Mary from the Stingaree Booth – Delicious!

Ran into two of my favorite medics, Craig & Levi.

Then, PawPaw and I had to get a pic with Santa.

I had too much fun, but time to get home to decorate the tree, I’d put it off long enough.

Sunday, back to our Mass across the pond. (You’d think I’d been over there enough within the last 3 days or so …). I guess our congregation at Our Lady down the street are going to think we fell off the wagon again.

Breakfast at Star Drug and back home to decorate the deck, too cold to do the lights on the deck, but not too cold to make a pot of chili for dinner!

It’s beginning to look like Christmas y’all!
