It was another exciting weekend on the Bolivar Peninsula as the annual Saltwater Slam Fishing Tournament returned to Stingaree Restaurant & Marina. The event brought together anglers of all ages for a day filled with competition, camaraderie, and plenty of fish tales.
The Main Event
Twelve fishing teams launched early Saturday morning, chasing the elusive triple crown of bay fishing, the “Saltwater Slam”—flounder, redfish, and speckled trout. With warm, breezy weather setting the tone, teams scoured the bay in search of the perfect catch. Each team weighed in their best three speckled trout, three redfish, and one flounder, with the heaviest combined stringer earning the glory and the Grand Prize of $5,000.
The Hardhead Haul-In
While the “big guys” were out on the water, the dock came alive with the laughter and excitement of young anglers during the Hardhead Haul-In. A total of 66 kids lined the marina, proudly reeling in a wide variety of fish. First, Second, and Third place trophies were awarded for the largest hardhead, and the first-place winner also received a $500 scholarship, ensuring the next generation of anglers feels the reward of a great catch.

Congratulations to the Winners
The Saltwater Slam continues to be one of Bolivar Peninsula’s favorite traditions—celebrating fishing, family, and fun. Congratulations to all who participated and helped make this year’s event another unforgettable success.
