Remembering Bob Uhlenberg

By Linda Elissalde
Robert (Bob)Allen Uhlenberg was a fine gentleman. He and wife Margaret contributed a lot to Bay Vue Methodist Church. Both helped with church events. Each of them served as scripture readers when needed. Bob took part in Christmas and Good Friday productions. One of his most memorable was serving as Angel Gabriel in the outdoor Christmas play of December, 2020. I understand that he entertained other members during rehearsals.

Bob was also a very accomplished cook. I have always disliked Brussel Sprouts. (They are just little cabbages in my book.) Bob created a special dish when we held a Thanksgiving dinner at church. It looked interesting. I took some. I tasted it. Wow! Whatever it was tasted delicious! I asked him for the recipe. To my surprise it contained Brussel Sprouts. There were so many ingredients that even the sprouts tasted divine. I never quite equaled his recipe, but I am now a Brussel Sprouts fan.

Bob was an kind, interesting gentleman. He and Margaret shared many adventures. I will miss him, his talents and his very best Brussel Sprouts.

I was born on February 14, 1941 into a family of writers. Schmuckers took pen in hand for thank you notes, news articles, lessons, plays, poetry, birthdays, eulogies, etc. Aquarius prediction in my diary stated, “Has some writing abilities, but too superficial to be important”. Thanks to all who accept my compositions anyway. I come from a family of writers.
