Or, you might say, My Cup Runneth Over!
We spent a non-stop weekend in Tampa. Our Grandson invited PawPaw to be his sponsor for his Confirmation. Airline tickets purchased and lots of correspondence for PawPaw to become official. It took a phone call and a letter to his grade school in Dallas to obtain all the necessary baptism, and his confirmation certificates to prove he was a legitimate bona fide Catholic to be Michael’s sponsor.
We arrived on Thursday about mid-afternoon and went straight from the airport to Dax’s track meet. Yes, it was chilly, thank goodness I wore a sweatshirt. When we got home, just enough time to grab a bite to eat then to bed. After all, everybody had school the next day. We puttered around on Friday until everyone arrived home. The tension was thick enough to cut it with a knife. We were all anticipating the news! The news being “was Michael going to be accepted into Tampa Jesuit.” He had already been accepted in Tampa Catholic for high school, but EVERYBODY, all his buddies were hoping to get into Jesuit and so was he. Promptly, at 4pm, Michael and his parents went into seclusion to go check out the email. Two minutes after 4:00 pm, Michael came into the living room and showed all of us the answer on his phone. HE MADE IT! Tears of gratitude were shed by all. The kid made it!
Off to another game. Baseball this time, Dax’s & then Michael’s. Addyson was off applying at the Y to be a lifeguard. She joined us at the game later, SHE GOT THE JOB! Next hurdle, a 22-hour lifeguard exam. Oh goody!
It seems the whole weekend was go go go! And, nothing is close, everything is at least 30 minutes away from home. It’s all good, we had a grand time and froze to death. Yep, Tampa was having a cold front, and it was a doozy!
We had a bit of a break, I don’t remember what day it was, but Addyson took Grandma to the International Mall for some more clothes. My main goal was to find more to wear to the confirmation which I did at Dillard’s. Just because Dicks was so close, we ventured over there where I bought another sweatshirt and some other cute stuff. So, guess what? I bought so much stuff; our daughter is going to have to mail a box to us. We decided to change after the confirmation for the trip home, so Kelly will mail most of my purchases along with PawPaw’s suit and dress shoes. After all, we carried our luggage on, no checking luggage for us!
We managed to get in a couple of dinners/lunches out. Tried out a fantastic Florida/Mex restaurant, just about as good as Tex/Mex. At least queso is melted cheese, not like California where queso is a bowl of shredded cheddar.
We made it home last night late, at like 11:45. We were worried about making the ferry with it running only every hour. We actually made it from Hobby to the ferry in about 40 minutes. Amazing! And I didn’t go a mile over 80 the whole way. Just kidding, I blame it on the car, she gets a little out of control from time to time.
Here again, I’ve rambled on enough. Happy to be home safe and sound. Sorry we had such a cold front here while we were gone. I’m sure ALL my stuff is gone by now. Can’t wait for the weekend so I can rummage around in the garden to check everything out.
Maezy needs a bath this weekend as well, shhhhhhhhhhhh, don’t tell her.
