The Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce has a new addition to its team. Courtney Ellison, a Surfside resident who has called Bolivar home for the past three years, is stepping into her role at the Chamber. Although her exact title is still being finalized, Courtney expects to work closely with Chamber leadership on administrative duties, bookkeeping, events, and community outreach. “I’ve heard manager, admin, or admin assistant—I’ll let Beth clarify,” she laughed. Titles aside, Courtney’s enthusiasm for her new role is unmistakable.
A Familiar Face in the Community
Originally from East Texas, Courtney notes the small-town connections are part of what makes Bolivar special. “Everybody seems to know everybody, and I’m starting to connect all the little dots,” she said.
Excited to Serve
What drew Courtney to the Chamber was the chance to be part of something bigger than herself. “Just kind of being part of the community, being able to be in the mix and help out—that was the original thought when I applied,” she explained. “It turned into a little more, and I’m excited.”
Courtney recognizes there will be challenges ahead, from learning QuickBooks to jumping into fundraising and community events. But her 25 years of administrative experience with the State of Texas give her confidence. “I do have a lot of office experience. That will definitely help,” she said.
Supporting Local Businesses
Courtney’s vision for the Chamber is straightforward—helping promote local businesses and bringing the community together. She also looks forward to getting to know more people. “I’ve been here three years, but I haven’t really been involved so much. I know all my gym people, but now I’ll get to know everyone else,” she said with a smile.
Family and Fun Facts
When asked to share something about herself, Courtney proudly mentioned she’s a mother of two and grandmother of eight. “That’s the good stuff,” she said. Beyond that, she describes herself as an open book, always willing to share and connect.
Looking Ahead
Courtney is jumping right in with the Chamber’s busy schedule. The next big event on her radar is the popular Senorita’s Putt-Putt Tournament. “That’s mostly Sabrina right now, but I’m sure I’ll get involved,” she said.
She encourages Chamber members and community residents to stop by and say hello. With a warm smile and a willingness to dive in, Courtney is ready to be a strong presence at the Bolivar Peninsula Chamber of Commerce. “I’m just glad to be on board,” she concluded. “Looking forward to it.”
