Sadly, the family had to go back to Tampa on New Year’s day, We took the Grands to Mod Pizza before putting them on the plane – destination “home for now.” The parents left at 5:30 AM by vehicle with Knight, their fur baby. They made it home in time to pick the rest of their gang at the airport in Tampa.

Here’s what we did to ring in the new year – Go Carting!

Pretty quiet back at the homestead, but the black-eyed peas and cabbage were ready, our lucky dinner!
Going back to work on a Friday (of all things), actually felt good. So much to catch up on and plan for the new year and our January board meeting. With the holidays and much-needed family visits behind, it was time to get back to business. Which, speaking of getting settled for the new year, meant putting all our Christmas decorations away. Quite the challenge. It seems our Christmas collection grows each year.
We managed to get all the ornaments off the tree and crated. I devoted the whole weekend to this task, no shopping for me, only one trip to Galveston for mass on Sunday and breakfast at Sunflower. What a treat!
Saturday consisted of putting all the loft decos away. With time to spare, I tackled the lights on the deck and managed to pack everything away for PawPaw to arrange all totes in the designated closet upstairs. All the attic stuff stashed up in the attic. Oops, everything but the Christmas tree. Now, that’s another project. It’s a beautiful pre-lit tree that only half of the lights work anymore. Soooooooooooo, section by section, we decided to cut off all the lights and cords. Success, half done – PawPaw tackled the bottom section and I tackled the top, Just two more sections in the middle to de-light. Yes, it was pointed out to me that I did the smallest section of the tree. Fa La La La La …
Oh, the most exciting part of the weekend. I don’t know if y’all are aware, but we were waiting on the birth of our fur baby, Merry Grace. I’ve been connected to my phone since before Christmas anticipating the phone call. Finally, on Saturday, I received the text message that Reese, the Mom, had given birth to our baby and her 10 siblings.

We’ll let you know which one is Merry, we can’t wait to meet her in person.
Good tidings to all & Happy New Year!
