Always makes me remember Steel Magnolia. It’s Clairee: “Well, you know what they say: If you don’t have anything nice to say about anybody, come sit by me!” I need to watch this movie again, maybe this weekend.
Easter Sunday, we joined up with the Friendswood gang after mass on Sunday at this cutest restaurant, Sugar & Rye. It’s on 24th and Church in Galveston. The Friendswood group arrived before us; they were waiting outside for our table. Of course, Camber had met another couple with three boys and one on the way. They were visiting Galveston from Dallas. I just thought, “well, Camber knows people everywhere she goes.” I remember the time we were all in the Atlanta airport going opposite directions on the escalator when she began having a conversation with an old friend from Oklahoma.
Anyway, Sugar & Rye, what a lovely restaurant. Try it out next time you’re on the island.
We talked and visited about everything including our new pet, Buddy, the Beta. They mentioned their Billie, distant cousins of Buddy. Who’s going to take care of Billie when they go to Colorado for a month this summer. I offered, of course. Lord knows I have plenty of food to take on every Beta this side of the Mississippi. Buddy’s food wasn’t working, it sank immediately to the bottom in all the gravel. Off to Amazon I went. (You gotta love Amazon! It’s where all us locals shop). So I order a couple of kinds of Beta food. When I received this one, before opening it, I went straight to returns – “no returns available.” So, I called customer service, left my number and they called me back immediately. Well, “no ma’am,” we can’t take back any pet food. So, more belligerently than I should have been, I said, “If I had a hundred fish, I couldn’t use up this quantity in over a year.” So, she said, “Ma’am, it said the quantity on the label.” How was I to know how much 7 ounces of fish food was!?! I gave up!
It’s all good. Buddy has enough to eat for his entire life and it floats on top. When he comes up to get a bite, I pet him. I think he likes it!
