If You Build It, They Will Come…or, so they say

Every year around this time, I begin worrying “am I going to have enough vendors.” And, every year, we finally fill up. We stop the process of applications and considerations about now, but every year, someone backs out and we sort of start again from scratch. We go back through the ones we’ve rejected for one reason or another and begin looking all over again. Vendors are usually rejected because we have a similar vendor. If we have to go through any of the rejections, we’ll simply find another spot for them far away from anyone similar.

Never fails, a few of my “of-course-they’re-coming folks” will show up at the last minute. I don’t know why I worry about them; they’ve been coming for the last 10 or so years. I got a text from Charlie this week, “Hello Love, just want to let you know I’ve put my check in the mail and I’m off to visit with the Health Department on Monday.” Oh Charlie, why do you let me fret like this?

Then, there’s Brian. I texted him the other day, “are you reconsidering?” His answer, “hey Georgia, I was just thinking about you, checks in the mail!”

Like I said, I’ve known these folks for years now, why oh why do I ever doubt them. These are two of my brightest stars! I’ve lost some along the way like Phoung and Silver Star. Then there’s my every faithful, Iona with Touchette’s. That’s the big ice cream cone, self-serve ice cream.

Same with Jamie, waiting and sweating about Jamie. We called him the other day and it was like a whole year hadn’t slipped by. Like an old friend you’ll always have, no need to stay in touch each and every day. “Yep, I’ll be there, see you in less than two weeks!”

Goes to show, we should never take these kind and dedicated folks for granted, and we don’t!

Sure hope to see you all out there, we put a lot of love and energy into this show. Not by ourselves, we have a family, a team of devoted folks who spend at least nine months of every year putting this event together. It’s a party to beat all parties!

NO RAIN!
