Snoopy Slam Reels in Big Fun

The inaugural Harold and Eagles Snoopy Slam Fishing Tournament cast its line on Saturday and attracted dozens of enthusiastic anglers of all ages. This lighthearted, family-friendly event offered a twist on traditional tournaments. All fishing took place from the bank along Frenchtown Road in Port Bolivar, and every participant used a tournament-supplied Snoopy fishing rod. The result was a morning full of laughter, excitement, and plenty of memorable moments.

Kids big and little lined the banks, each armed with their cartoon-themed rod and high hopes. A surprising variety of species made an appearance, from dogfish to flounder. One crowd-favorite moment came when a young angler proudly reeled in a dogfish. Someone shouted “nice fish,” only for the youngster to reply with pure honesty, “that’s not a nice fish, that’s a dogfish,” sparking laughter all around.

Competition was friendly but spirited. First, second, and third place trophies were awarded for the heaviest combined stringer of three fish. Additional prizes recognized the largest and smallest catches of the day, ensuring everyone had a chance to shine.

Organizer Chris Schultz said the Snoopy Slam will become an annual event, with proceeds benefiting the Take A Kid Fishing Foundation and Eagles Charities. Thanks to the participants, volunteers, and sponsors who made the day a success, this charming tournament is sure to reel in even more excitement in the years to come.

Congratulations to all who took part in the fun.

(L to R): Harold, Grant (Smallest Fish Award), Lina (Third Place), Brody (First Prize and Largest Fish Award), Terry (Second Place), and Motley.
