“There are no friends like the old friends.” James Joyce
They graduated from Beaumont’s St. Anthony Catholic High School in 1959. Some were together from the time they started school. Time has passed since those halcyon dates of youth, but when old friends get together, they become young again.
Thanks to Anthony Asta, and others in the Beaumont area, groups of friends get together now and then for lunch. The stories do fly with everyone remembering something or someone. Not that all agree on the stories, but the tales are still interesting.
Friends and spouses met up recently at Five Under in Beaumont. Our charming young waitress Justice patiently waited to wait on us because everyone had to visit before they would just sit down and order food. It was very loud. (By the way Five Under has an eclectic choice of really tasty foods.)
What a grand time it was indeed. A 1957 graduate from Beaumont High School showed up and added more information. When it came time for folk to bid farewell, many just kept on visiting.
There are so many quotations about time. “Time flies,” is one that is certainly true. It seemed as if only a moment had passed since we were all young. It also seemed only a moment until we bid farewell with promises that we would get together again soon. We will – because GOOD FRIENDS EQUAL GOOD TIMES!
