FINS TO THE LEFT; FINS TO THE RIGHT!

By Linda Elissalde
Elinor and Pat Tinsley, with help from family and friends, celebrated the upcoming birth of a new grandson. Elinor’s handsome son William Luke and his beautiful fiancée Meagan Venable will welcome a baby boy in late November or early December. Everyone is thrilled, but no one is more excited than soon-to-be big brother JP Luke. No first name has yet been chosen for the babe, but his middle name will honor Meagan’s deceased father Mitchell.

The Selachimorpha themed baby shower featured sharks hanging from the top, sharks on tablecloths, sharks on cupcakes and Mary Ann Harrison’s AMAZING homemade shark shaped cookies. Why sharks at a baby shower, you might ask? Well, it seems that Meagan’s favorite movie is JAWS, and she loves sharks. All the fins at this gathering were very cute and nice.

Elinor gives special thanks to many folk. These included Meagan’s family and godmother who came from the Sugarland area, William’s family who arrived from Houston and Willis, daughter Sara from New York and all who provided help for two days before the event. Gratitude includes Bay Vue Methodist Church women and Lazy Ladies Aerobics class for their wonderful gifts. Karla Doolittle provided scrumptious lemon bars. Rita Moseley brought her famous pasta salad. Sherry Morgan contributed her fine potato salad. Amy Lail graciously provided help and appetizing vegetable tray. Elinor’s sister, Lucy Turoff with son Glorian, came early to help, brought 10 lbs. of boiled shrimp and recorded all the gifts in the baby book. I was honored to take photos and write a review. Mrs. Tinsley added a special,“shout out,”to Sandi Covington. Sandi helped for two days, provided a tent, baked brownies and assisted in getting food ready for this exceptional event.

Everyone quickly lined up for scrumptious food. That table groaned under a load of countless exquisite culinary choices provided by family and friends. There were games, prizes and gifts for all attendees. Then came the finale as gracious Meagan, with help from William, opened innumerable gifts. Meagan never tired exclaiming over every gift. Her graciousness made each person feel her sincere gratitude. There were even presents for Will and future big brother JP. Rita Moseley and Elaine Rollfing made sure that JP was not forgotten with Hot Wheels and a Monster truck!

All good things do come to an end. Elinor thanked everyone again. She expressed her sincere appreciation to husband Pat Tinsley who had, “Cheerfully completed a mile long list of Honey-Do’s”.

Everyone agreed that this was a most glorious baby shower even surrounded with “FINS TO THE LEFT; FINS TO THE RIGHT!

I was born on February 14, 1941 into a family of writers. Schmuckers took pen in hand for thank you notes, news articles, lessons, plays, poetry, birthdays, eulogies, etc. Aquarius prediction in my diary stated, “Has some writing abilities, but too superficial to be important”. Thanks to all who accept my compositions anyway. I come from a family of writers.
