Exciting Times

It was all about housewarming and an open-house-sort of weekend. Our youngest flew in from Tampa to view her new home this past weekend. They won’t be moving until school’s out in June, but it was the right time to buy and so they did! Big Sis viewed the house and approved wholeheartedly, so they bought it! I got to see it last weekend and I fell in love with it, especially the backyard. Y’all know how I am all about the outdoors! I could imagine all sorts of stuff they can plant in all those beds around the pool. This weekend, I plan to get two Magnolias for out front!

First of all, on Saturday, we took Kel over to the house and she finally felt like this is home! We measured for towel racks and curtain rods and she videoed everything and walked every member of the family around by facetime. Shopping, shopping we went, Sam’s, WalMart, American Furniture and Star Furniture. Took some time out for a lunch from Whataburger and dinner at Chuy’s. Breakfast was at Red Oak first thing. PawPaw had chores to do when we initially got to the house, new door locks of course.

Needless to say, we were exhausted by the end of the day, so we all turned in before 9pm.

Next morning, time to get pretty and head over to Conroe for the open house of our oldest daughter’s venture, a “wedding/quinceanera/anything you need to celebrate” venue. Oh, it was beautiful, all the changes and upgrades they’ve made in just a few short months. This is where our first grand got married. Eli & Chyna married here at the end of May, and we all fell in love with the place. It just happened to be For Sale at that time, go figure. Our Daughter and son-in-law have their hands full, but I believe it was fate and they’re on Cloud Nine with their decision. Probably 30 vendors showed up by noon on Sunday. DJs, food, photography, flowers, wedding gowns, you name it! The guests began showing up before opening at 1pm and the tours began. Leigh enlisted all her friends, her sister, the newlyweds, previous owners, event planners and even us old folks to guide the guests around the 4-acre property to give people a feel of the absolute loveliness of the surroundings. From the bridge over the creek to the pavilion where an open-air ceremony is held, to the intimate rowboat for two on the lake, back to the huge high-beamed, tree-lined entrance to the venue anyone would want to entertain their friends and family.

By 4, we were all a bit tired, the vendors began packing up and we, the old-timers, began stacking chairs, stacking decorations and helped put stuff away for next weekend, another wedding!

The Tampa girl flew home Monday morning, and the event-owners went home to rest up for their regular jobs and get ready for the next thrill of the weekend to come.

We look forward to seeing our Tampa son-in-law next weekend, His Turn!

We just can’t wait for next summer to have all our troops together in a 5-mile radius of each other.

My Cup Runneth Over!
