Crenshaw Students Surprise Principal Traci Camp for National Principals Month

It was a morning full of smiles, applause, and heartfelt appreciation at Crenshaw School on Thursday, when students and teachers came together to surprise Principal Traci Camp in celebration of National Principals Month.

The entire student body gathered in the cafeteria, many dressed in festive Halloween costumes, to honor their beloved principal. The staff cleverly disguised the event as a routine meeting, summoning Camp away from her office while students quietly assembled.

When she was told there was an “issue to tend to,” Camp entered the cafeteria to find not a problem—but a sea of cheering students and teachers clapping and calling her name.

Adding to the fun, many of the teachers were dressed in costumes inspired by the upcoming GISD All-District Musical “Grease,” in which several Crenshaw students will perform. The retro-themed outfits added both flair and humor to the joyful morning.

The highlight came when the school choir performed “I Am Grateful,” a touching tribute that expressed the students’ love and appreciation for their principal. As the music filled the cafeteria, smiles spread across the crowd, and Camp was visibly moved by the gesture.

It was a well-deserved moment of recognition for a leader who gives so much to her school every day—proof that the Crenshaw community is truly grateful for their principal.
