Crenshaw School Wows with Environmental Showcase and Theatrical Twist

Crenshaw Elementary and Middle School recently hosted its anticipated Magnet Showcase, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The event highlighted the incredible work students have been doing all year, integrating every subject through the lens of environmental science—true to Crenshaw’s unique identity as a magnet school.

From Kindergarten through Eighth Grade, each class presented projects that reflected their environmental science strand. The school was transformed into a vibrant gallery of knowledge and creativity, with displays covering a broad spectrum of topics.

Projects ranged from in-depth studies of indigenous Indian tribes and their connection to nature, to innovative environmental solutions; from animal habitats to a simulated rain forest. Students conducted extensive research, engaged in hands-on learning, and even went on field trips to enhance their understanding and gather real-world artifacts for their presentations.

But the showcase didn’t stop there.

In a fun and refreshing twist, three student teams competed in a lemonade contest, serving up their best recipes to thirsty visitors. The competition was spirited, with each team vying for the title of Best Lemonade—a sweet way to blend entrepreneurship with environmental awareness.

To cap off the afternoon, the Crenshaw Theatrical Crew dazzled the audience with their unique performance of “Alice in Wonderland: Seussical Style.” The whimsical mashup brought together the magical worlds of Lewis Carroll and Dr. Seuss, earning big applause and brightening the evening with creativity and laughter.

Events like this showcase the power of magnet education. At Crenshaw, students don’t just learn facts—they ask questions, dig deeper, and develop a lasting appreciation for the world around them. From botany to biology, they are building a foundation of curiosity and environmental stewardship that will serve them for life.

Congratulations to the students, teachers, and staff of Crenshaw Elementary & Middle School on an amazing event that celebrated learning, creativity, and community!
