Captain Jeff Brandon Fishing Report

Surface water temperature 80 degrees. This week, once again the story has been wind, wind and a little more wind. The water clarity is about average for East Galveston Bay west of the Stingaree and clarity declines the further east you venture past Big Pasture Bayou. The majority of our success this week has been back in the marsh and back lake areas as we searched for some protection from the strong winds.

We are still using Imitation shrimp lures & tails under popping corks, with a 1-foot leader to trigger some of the most aggressive Redfish bites of the year, as well as Deadly Dudley Rat Tails, and WacAttack Flukes, in light colors with 1/4 oz jig heads. The Redfish success has been on grasslines and the Trout have been over scattered shell.

The last few days we have enjoyed most of our success on the Popping Cork with artificial, using a pop and slow reel and pause, triggering the most strikes. Hit us up if we can help get you on the water enjoying the great outdoors on East Galveston Bay, and remember to wear your kill switches and life jackets as we approach Memorial Weekend.
