Ahead of the Game

With Thanksgiving upon us, I feel like I’m pretty much ahead of the game. Of course, if you took a look at my house, you wouldn’t believe me. Most of the time, I feel like we have an adequately sized home, but with every room in the house looking like a workshop, we’re beginning to feel a bit crowded. Literally, from the front door to the end of the house, it looks like Christmas has thrown up! I’ve managed to keep our bedroom separate from all the hubbub and confusion.

The dining table is full of wrapped presents, the back two bedrooms are covered with wrapping paper and ribbons or gifts almost ready to be wrapped and the beds in the loft are full of ornaments, Christmas gift bags and lights to be strung on the deck. It’s all a work-in-progress, so I’m not all that concerned. It’s just going in stages. Like a railroad station, some of the items haven’t arrived yet.

I really feel like I’ve accomplished a lot just by getting the loft railing decorated with garland and Christmas stockings. The loft is practically a bigger challenge than decorating the tree itself! But, of course, I’ll admit, I brought that on myself. Maybe one of these holidays I’ll figure out how to make things simpler.

Ahead of the Game

I must pace myself though and I think the Thanksgiving break is going to be welcome and relaxing. We’re going to visit family in League City, and I’m responsible for a few things. I’m telling myself not to get uptight, it’s not like this is my first rodeo.

I did suggest to my husband we take two cars. After all, the day after Thanksgiving is Black Friday, I couldn’t possibly miss a shopping day, could I?

This way, I’ll have all day Saturday and Sunday to put up the Trees! One inside and my newest one out on the deck. Oops, I won’t have all day on Saturday, because the “Saturday After Thanksgiving Festival” at the Swedes Pavilion takes place this Saturday. You won’t want to miss it!

It’s a great excuse to get out there to walk off all that turkey & dressing and pumpkin pie you’re bound to enjoy on Thursday.

I’ll see y’all out there!

Happy Thanksgiving!
