A Very Special Sunday

By Linda Elissalde
Sundays are always important. They are days of rest and refreshing. They are days of worship. Sunday, November 10, 2024 proved to be a very special one at Bay Vue Methodist Church. Veterans Day on November 11 commemorates the service of all U.S. veterans. The worship honored those present who had served in the US Armed Forces. Veterans stood to announce the branch in which they served. Attendees with relatives who served also shared those names. Sunday’s service ended with everyone standing to sing, ”God Bless America”.

But wait. There is more. Bay Vue had the pleasure of young people from Houston’s Grace Presbyterian Church in attendance. They and their leaders had spent a weekend at Crystal Beach. Pastor Valerie Hudson was asked if it would be alright for them to come to our 9:OO AM service. When Bay Vue’s Food Groups heard the news, they went into action and produced a sumptuous repast. What a wonderful group of high school students graced the church service and Fellowship Hall. These youngsters were intelligent, happy, polite, and added such brightness to our surroundings. We loved every moment of their visit.

What a lesson for all of us this Sunday. We were reminded of those who sacrifice so much to keep our country, our homes, our children safe from harm. We were introduced to a new generation that promises so much for a great future. Although it is not yet officially Thanksgiving Day, Bay Vue members are already thankful because of A VERY SPECIAL SUNDAY!
