Bob Currie was born in Galveston and raised in Beaumont. He was a locomotive engineer for 33 years and a hospital lab director for 16 years. Always a boat owner, he joined the Coast Guard Auxiliary and qualified as boat crew, vessel examiner, chef, and was property administrator for six cutters.
