Another First

So, there I was …

My Saturday trip into town happened early on a Saturday. Good thing! Anyway, I get hungry early and Whataburger is one of my favorite places. I usually get a Justa-burger Meal with the chocolate chip cookie, so I pulled up and ordered, $6.27 or something like that. Usually, if someone is outside and takes my order, they’ll give me the Senior discount which knocks off the price of my coffee. Anyway, I counted out my money before I got up to the window. I handed the guy my money and he said, “No, those people paid for your meal” and he pointed to the car in front of me. Oh my gosh! I was flabbergasted. That’s the first time ever! So, I asked him what the car behind me ordered, and I paid him for theirs.

I had a great time shopping, even met one of my daughters at Dillard’s. I specifically went to Dillards to look at their Christmas decorations and shop for some sweaters. But mainly, it was to purchase a gift card for a daughter-in-law’s birthday coming up. My daughter didn’t find anything and left, but I kept on shopping. I had seen something I wanted to get for her for Christmas, so when she left, I high-tailed it back to seek out my idea. When I got to my favorite lady who was holding stuff I wanted to buy, I totally forgot the gift card. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to go back.

Last stop, HEB, or so I thought … While I was at HEB, my husband called me to tell me we had been enlisted to take over the Costume Contest up at Swedes Park for the NEW Trunk or Treat being put on by Emergency Services District and the Volunteer Fire Stations. Oh Great! Then he told me “And we need prizes for the winners” of each of the 5 categories, Ages 0-2, 3-7, 8-12, 13-18, and 19+. So, my next stop, and hopefully last I decided was Target in Galveston. Easy enough to find some cute things for the first 3 categories. My husband got Tia’s gift cards for the older two categories. Perfect!

I will admit, I got a bit excited. We had to cancel our plans for an adult party we had been invited to and decided to wear the costumes we planned to wear to it. As it turned out, we weren’t quite as scary as the rest of the spooky characters. But since we were working with a younger crowd, it helped not to be too frightening.

We had a fun time and came away with improvement ideas if we’re chosen to run the contest again next year.
