As the premier fishing tournament on the Bolivar Peninsula, the annual Stingaree Saltwater Slam once again drew some of the finest anglers along the Texas coast for a day defined by high stakes, friendly competition, and legendary fish stories.
On a picture-perfect weather day across Galveston Bay, 11 teams set out on the water early in the morning. Their mission: track down and weigh in the heaviest combined stringer, featuring three speckled trout, three redfish, and one flounder, all competing for a grand prize of $3,000 in cash, ultimate bragging rights, and plenty of well-earned glory.
Following the morning’s on-the-water action, the atmosphere at the weigh-in station buzzed as teams brought in their catches. The excitement carried into a lively community auction and the official awards ceremony celebrating the tournament winners.
Events of this caliber are a true community effort, and a huge thank you goes out to all the generous sponsors, hardworking volunteers and dedicated participants who made the tournament an unforgettable success. Congratulations to everyone who cast a line and shared in another classic day of Bolivar coastal tradition!
