Tis the Birthday season. Actually, it began early January. You see, we have 8 Grands who were all born before early September. This month, March, we have 2 Grands and one child. Did I mention, we have 3 children with spouses and now, we’ve added a spouse with one of the Grands. Oh dear, I’ll have to check my calendar again … Can’t let anyone slip through the cracks.
It’s a lot of fun, I must add. Sometimes, it’s difficult to know who to get what, but that’s where the parents kick in. Sometimes on time, sometimes not. That’s when I must wing it, which I do quite well if you ask me. You know, there’s always some who are so easy to buy for, it’s necessary to put a limit on the purchase.
They’re all old enough, even the twins (8 years old) that have got a list, you know exactly what to get them. It’s some of the older ones you need help with. Oh, who am I kidding, I need help with all of them!
The weather’s warming up a bit, I’ve had Mindi & friends over to do some gardening. They cleaned out the front garden, even replanted the Plumeria (all 4 of them). The Plumeria survived the winter, being uprooted and living in the “refrigerator room” downstairs with a heater of all things. They’re leafless, but the stalks are still strong, not squishy. Mindi and Gang cut back the Pride of Barbados and all the hibiscus. It looks like most of the hibiscus are sprouting some green leaves.
Our little Merry loves the old bark remaining in the garden. We have to fish it out of her mouth constantly. I may just forego the mulch this year and plant a couple of Sweet Potato Vines on each side. That will cover the mulch and most of the garden as always. Mindi & Gang removed the Sago Palm thank goodness. That’s one plant you don’t want to have around a pet. Especially an inquisitive, stubborn puppy, who wants to eat everything! Thanks, Shannon, for recommending “our girl!”!
I’ll end with just a note about our sweet angel, Merry. Well, she’s not always a “sweet angel,” especially when she’s biting my toes or grabbing the back of my shirt or pant leg. Oh, my goodness, don’t look at my hands, they’re a scarred up, bloody mess! I googled “when will my puppy stop biting?” Eight weeks to 6 months. Oh dear, we’re only at almost 10 weeks, I think I need to start wearing gloves.
This is her new harness. Thank goodness we got a red harness; PawPaw didn’t care much for the pink ones. Oh yeah, most pics you’ll see are of her asleep, she doesn’t know, or care to pose for pictures yet.
