Long overdue! We had the pleasure of company with The Littles this past weekend. Always a hoot!
I had an appointment with the piano mover, so I was killing time in town, doing some shopping and stuff. As I was wheeling through HEB, I received his phone call. “Where are you,” I asked. Well, it turned out they wouldn’t be making the delivery due to a house fire. I felt awful for them, no one ever wants to hear a tragedy like that!
So, I finished my shopping and began my trip back home. I knew I had some special guests waiting at home. PawPaw was over at the pavilion at the Chicken Run, otherwise known as the Motley Krewe, benefit for the Bolivar Arena Association. On the ferry, I received a video from my husband, Fisher had caught a chicken. The funniest event I’ve ever heard of. Several sessions where different age groups were set free to catch the chickens. I’m sure it was a falling down riot over and over again.

My boys (most of them), the special visitors for the weekend, greeted me at the car and carried all the groceries up. Matthew and I poured some wine and proceeded to get caught up. Mommy was in Chicago for a bridal party, so the boys and fur babies took the opportunity to come down to the beach.

Before I got home, they made a trip to the beach to visit Gary. This is becoming one of their highlights every time they come down. Can’t have too many of Gary’s necklaces I guess??

After much relaxation and realizing I didn’t have enough time to prepare a meal, we decided to go to Stingaree. Debating whether to eat upstairs or Down Under, our decision was quickly made for us. Down Under was closed – too cold! Perfect, up we went to see if they had a table for us and lo and behold, if Meredith and her family were up there waiting to be seated. Oh, what a blast from the past. We’ve known Meredith since the 70’s. Her parents had a beach house across the street from my in-laws, Mama & Bop. Ike blew away Mama & Bop’s house and eventually Mama & Bop passed on. Meredith’s family bought that property and built their forever home there. Loving memories of 4th of July parties at the Motley’s.

Burrrrrrrrrr, it turned colder overnight, winter’s back! Dannay’s for breakfast, what a treat, the boys always remember to bring me an apple fritter. Matthew and Pierce headed out early Sunday morning for Pierce’s golf tournament.
The littlest Littles, stayed with us, what good boys! It finally warmed up enough for them to stay outside and play, good ol’ fresh air! Surprisingly, they don’t lack for things to do. Skateboards, basketball, soccer, baseball, you name it, they always find something to get into.

Earlier this afternoon, they came to us, “can we drive the golf cart?” And the beat goes on! These are the youngest, the next generation. Every group of Grands has had the opportunity to learn how to drive the golf cart around and around the yard. They obey. They know where to drive on our property only and they have a blast. Of course, we’re quite nervous and can’t wait til they get tired of it so we can quit worrying so. Eventually, they do. Then, they’re off to something else. It’s a bit different in the winter. Summertime is in and out of the pool or begging us to take them to the washout.
It goes by too quickly. Tomorrow, we’ll hop on over to Galveston and meet up with the rest at Yaga’s for lunch to make the drop off.
Adios for now, Niños pequeños. Hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar.
