There’s a Rumor Going Around

I hope you’ve all been Nice and Not Naughty. Rumor has it that the Jolly Ol’ Elf Himself will be gracing our little community this next week. He’s scheduled to be arriving in high fashion all around town. The Eagles, The Big Store, What to my wondering eyes should appear Santa & one of his elves Saturday at the Crystaland Parade. He greeted kids at the Crystal Beach Fire Station that night and handed out trophies to the vehicles, floats and golf cart winners of the parade. Oh, what a treat!

I was afraid I’d miss him because I went into town to go shopping (of course). I was on a mission to buy a turkey and a ham for our EMS staff. You know they’re 24-7 around here. That means working on Christmas Day. Well, they do make a big deal out of Christmas even if they’re here rather than home with family. They have two trees set up, one at the front for Santa and one back in the TV room where they hang out when it’s quiet. Always ready for a call to drop, always ready to help those in need throughout the community.

Anyway, on my shopping trip, I hit Hobby Lobby for probably the 4th time since Thanksgiving searching for the “just right” decorations, wrapping paper & craft needs. Next stop, HEB for the turkey and ham. Can you imagine??? No turkeys left at the HEB on 146, only a frozen turkey breast, ONE, only ONE. That just wouldn’t do, so I proposed a plan with my husband to go into Galveston on Sunday morning for a later Mass, then breakfast, then Kroger, then La Kings on the Strand. Besides, I knew if I stopped at Kroger in Galveston, I’d be late for the get together with the  Canal Gang on the beach. The  Gang has grown quite a lot. They’re always making new friends, a couple from Dripping Springs followed Dennis & Elaine (“They’re Back) to the beach. They’re actually building a home as we speak.

After saying Hi to the beach folks, we made it to the station to see all the vehicles  numbered and lined up to get started. We drove back down to the beach to mingle and watch the parade. What a fun group, so accepting and friendly  even though we don’t live in their neighborhood …

Surprise, surprise, our very own EMS contestant won 1st place Vehicle! Dawn, we’re so proud of you!

I have a whole week of baking planned before we go to get our Tampa kids at the airport on Friday. The parents and family fur baby, Knight, will be arriving on Saturday by automobile. It’s a Win Win situation for all, the kids get to fly, the dog gets to come and the parents get to drive in peace and quiet and  a little dog hair …

Wishing all a very Merry Christmas –  Until We Meet Again.
