It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

By Linda Elissalde
It actually began to look a lot like Christmas in stores before Halloween. We are nearer to that special day now. Therefore Bay Vue Methodist Church members, family and friends were invited to celebrate a delightful Christmas gathering at Diana and David Ezzell’s beautiful home on December 12. Everyone felt the season getting closer when they opened that front door. Every area glistened with sparkling lights, tables glowed with flowers and a ceiling high Diana decorated Christmas tree invited folk to stand beside it for photos.

Bay Vue’s beloved Pastor Valerie Hudson gave the blessing. Drinks were plentiful from water to tea to eggnog to wines to coffee. A full sit down dinner included Elinor Tinsley’s tasty appetizers along with her famous pralines. Diana with Elinor, Marsha Fredenburg, Mary Ann Harrison and others supplied the outstanding main dishes. David’s amazing beef tenderloin was definitely popular. Many of us went back for second helpings. OK! Many of us went back a third time. We still found room for Elaine Rollfing’s celebrated cakes, pies, cookies and toffee. It happens that Marcel Elissalde’s 85th birthday is December 12. He was happily surprised with a rousing birthday serenade and his very own chocolate birthday cake created by no other than Mrs. Elaine Rollfing.

The initial committee for this magical party included Diana, Marsha, and Elinor, but it quickly grew to many more. Such a fete needed many hands to cook, set up tables, add decorations, and then help clean up. Gratitude to all of those who helped. Thanks also to volunteers who proceeded to return the kitchen back to some symbolism of order.

Like all stories, such a glamorous and joyful evening came to an end. Hugs and expressions of gratitude prevailed as guests left such a shimmering evening. Guests really could agree that because of the Ezzells’ party, IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

I was born on February 14, 1941 into a family of writers. Schmuckers took pen in hand for thank you notes, news articles, lessons, plays, poetry, birthdays, eulogies, etc. Aquarius prediction in my diary stated, “Has some writing abilities, but too superficial to be important”. Thanks to all who accept my compositions anyway. I come from a family of writers.
