Friends, family, and residents from across Bolivar Peninsula gathered Thursday afternoon at Stingaree to honor the retirement of Lee Crowder, Road Administrator for Galveston County Road & Bridge.
Crowder began his career on Bolivar Peninsula 21 years ago and quickly became a familiar face to residents. He is widely recognized for his hands-on leadership and support in helping the peninsula rebuild after Hurricane Ike, ensuring roads and infrastructure were restored as quickly as possible. Known for always being responsive to the community’s needs, his efforts earned him the respect and gratitude of local citizens.
During the celebration, Lee and his wife, Mandie warmly went from table to table, personally thanking everyone for attending. “It’s been an honor to serve this community,” he said, visibly moved by the turnout.
In a show of appreciation, Crowder was presented with a plaque from the citizens of Bolivar. He also received certificates of recognition from the offices of State Senator Mayes Middleton, State Senator Brandon Creighton, State Representative Terri Leo-Wilson, and US Congressman Randy Weber.

“I am so appreciative, I don’t have the words,” Lee said as he accepted the honors. The event was filled with heartfelt stories, handshakes, and hugs, reflecting the deep bonds he has built over two decades of service.
