Dedicated Care at the Beach: Meet PA Sherry Stern at Le Medical Clinic

For years, residents of Crystal Beach have said the community needed a consistent and reliable medical clinic. Today, Le Medical Clinic is filling that gap, and at the center of its care is Physician Assistant Sherry Stern. With more than two decades of experience, Stern brings not only skill but also a deep sense of compassion shaped by her own family’s journey through healthcare.

A Personal Calling into Medicine

Stern’s decision to enter the medical field was inspired by her late father’s health struggles with colon cancer and congestive heart failure. “I just felt the care he was getting was not adequate,” she recalled. “That pushed me into healthcare—to be there not only for the patient, but for the family too. I never want people to feel like just a number.”

This philosophy has guided her career since graduating from the University of Texas in Edinburg in 2006. Originally from Minnesota, Stern’s path has taken her across Texas and beyond, from orthopedics in Iowa to surgical work in Beaumont, and later into endocrinology and family practice in The Woodlands and Winnie.

A Career of Experience and Dedication

Stern’s résumé is extensive, including three years in surgery with cardiovascular surgeons at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, six years in endocrinology in The Woodlands, seven years at Riceland Clinic in Winnie, followed by two years in private practice.

When she learned about a position at Le Medical Clinic in Crystal Beach, Stern knew she had found the right place. “I hate job hopping,” she explained. “If I come here, I’m staying until I retire. This community needs stability, and that’s what I want to provide.”

Full-Scope Care for the Peninsula

As a physician assistant, Stern diagnoses, treats, prescribes medication, and performs in-clinic procedures such as suturing, removing lipomas, and draining abscesses. Her wide-ranging experience means she has treated everything from high blood pressure and diabetes to rare conditions like Addison’s disease and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome.

In just a few months at Le Medical Clinic, she has already noticed the difference between seasons. “During the summer, we saw vacationers with cuts and stingray injuries. Now, with fall and winter, it’s more flu, COVID, colds, and chronic conditions in our older population,” she said.

While the clinic is fully equipped for general medical care, emergencies such as heart attacks or strokes are immediately referred to 911. For most other conditions, Stern and her team can provide treatment right on site.

Building Trust and Consistency

One of the biggest challenges Crystal Beach faced in the past was inconsistency in medical providers. Stern is determined to change that.

“I want people to know I’m here, I’m not going anywhere,” she said. “I’m here Monday through Thursday, 9:00 to 4:30, and I see everyone from three days old to 105. Patients can walk in or make an appointment.”

Her commitment is echoed by Dr. Le, who owns the clinic and several others, signaling a long-term investment in the peninsula’s health needs.

A Call for Community Support

Currently, the clinic is also seeking a new medical assistant (MA) to join the team after their current staff member departs. The MA’s role is critical in greeting patients, checking vitals, and handling lab draws. “We desperately need one,” Stern emphasized. “It’s my biggest worry right now.”

A Welcome Presence for Crystal Beach

For a community that has long waited for reliable healthcare, Stern’s presence at Le Medical Clinic represents stability, compassion, and commitment. Whether it’s a vacationer with a beach injury, a local managing chronic conditions, or families needing everyday care, Stern and the clinic are ready to serve.

Her message to the community is simple: “Come back. Know that I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.”
