Another Trip Around the Sun

I remember when I was a kid, and I thought 40 was sooooooooo old! Today, I’m almost 2 times that! Oh d-d-d-dear, how did this happen?

But this is where it all began, back here in Crystal Beach. We got married in that little yellow house on East Canal Street, it’s still there. Way back in ’76, we had the two-year-old and life was easy peasy. A lot of time spent on the beach then showering in the back yard with the water hose. Lots of family events back then when everyone was still around.

Expecting number 2, we left to pursue the real life, get real jobs and experience the corporate world and all the hustle and bustle the real life has to offer. Anyway, speaking of 40, it just doesn’t seem that long ago. I had 3 children by then, ages 15, 10, 8, all rather young. We were back in Texas after being transferred to California, then Louisiana, both of us out there, each in our own corporate world.

Before retirement, we bought the sweetest house on Olive and then Ike came and tore it down. We survived though and rebuilt on the same property, then retired and moved here permanently from Sugar Land. Funny how things pretty much stay the same, we both work hard, it’s what keeps us going – working hard! We still have family events here when they can all get down. Almost all our family lives in Texas, nearby. The others will move here from Tampa in the summer.

It’s been a long and sweet ride; I have so much to be thankful for.
