Yep, those temps are heating up. I’m making sure I have my cell phone at all times, especially when my husband is out there in this heat. All his projects seem to be outside! We’re expecting the Grands for the 4th, so he’s out there putting up the new basketball hoop, striping lines for the pickle ball court, getting the back stop built for the baseball diamond and setting up the volleyball net. All this work requires a little cool down, so there he goes to clean the pool. No such luck! The pool temps are like bath water. Oh dear, what’s a PawPaw to do? He mentioned changing the water in the hot tub. Perhaps, he can just not set the heater since it’s undercover. That’ll be his “cool spot.”
In between all this preparation for family, we never fail to do what makes us happy, our little together time. It makes for an early morning, but we’ll catch the 7am ferry to get to mass on time. We found a new place for breakfast. Bambu Mexican Grill on 23rd in Galveston. It’s across the street from the Bryan Museum. I had Migas Mexicana and PawPaw had Huevos Rancheros. What a cool place! It’s been there for over 20 years. You just never know what you’ll find across the pond! After a trip to the Farmer’s Market for some fresh okra and Daffodil’s fabulous salsa, we ventured back across the bay for home. Oh, my goodness, the traffic leaving the peninsula is unreal! The ferry line was backed up to Last Stop. And, going east, the traffic cops were at The Big Store light moving people on through. We seem to hit it at check-out time each weekend.
Sunday afternoon, Maezy and I went out for a drive on the beach. When it’s not the heat of summer, I love to see the beach empty, no such luck Sunday. I decided to cruise the neighborhood, drove past Vicky’s and there she was out on her deck, so Maezy and I decided to stop for a visit. Love my visits with old friends, just like we see each other every day. So comfortable and relaxed, you just pick up where you left off. Happy to see each other, enjoying listening to the windchimes and watching the pelicans.
Family and friends, a good book and a glass of wine, that’s what it’s all about.
Live Simple, love well, and take time to smell the roses!

June 25, 2025 at 3:23 pmI so miss setting on the deck watching the traffic up and down the ditch. It could be coffee in the morning or that first glass of wine. Oh yes, I miss you too.
