George Strong turned 88 on Sunday, June 8, 2025. He has enjoyed a most illustrious life. Mr. Strong graduated from from South Dakota State University and earned a master’s degree from the University of Denver. George served his country as a Major in the US Army. He owned and operated George Strong and Associates in Houston. George ended up in Crystal Beach where he became well know for his services at Bay Vue Methodist Church, Bolivar Chamber treasurer, Vice President of the Water Board, volunteer at the food truck, treasurer of ESD #2, portrayal of Mirabeau B. Lamar in all Jane Long productions and was honored as Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year. George, accompanied by one of his famous dog companions, welcomed newcomers to Crystal Beach.
George treated all his guests when he threw his own 80th birthday party. Now he lives at Crosswinds in League City where he is on several committees, and where he treated his new friends to their Sunday night supper of pizza and beer. Although he has lately battled some health issues, George was still the clever and charming bon vivant. Pam Couch is his gracious helper. George was presented with a huge birthday cake. Mr. Strong quickly blew out the candles, cut a piece for himself, and then shared with everyone. Cards, gifts, cheers, applause and varied choruses of “Happy Birthday” resounded from old and new friends.
No matter where he goes; No matter his health; No matter his age; George retains his wonderful personality that makes him a much beloved person. George Walter Strong is 88, and he is STILL GOING STRONG!
