Captain Jeff Brandon Fishing Report

Surface water temperature 70 degrees. The water clarity is about average for East Galveston Bay. The Trout are becoming more active and we are still catching them in deeper holes, as well as out on the flats over shell. Active baitfish / signs of life are still critical, so pay attention to your surroundings. The redfish bite was not as good for us this week, around drains and in the very shallow water areas back in the marsh.

We are still using Imitation shirmp lures & tails under popping corks, with a 1 foot leader to trigger bites, as well as weightless Deadley Dudley Rat Tails, and WacAttack Flukes, in light colors. The last few days we have enjoyed most of our success on the Popping Cork with artificial, using a pop and slow reel 4 cranks & pause, triggering the most strikes. Fishing should continue to improve as the fish become more active with the warmer temperatures and longer days. Hit us up if we can help get you on the water enjoying the great outdoors.
